10 Inspiring Quotes For The Terminally Weird

Submitted By Jenny Smith

It is almost a task to survive in this world without having to crush one’s self or one’s identity. It as if the world is in a constant round of rage to look out for you, target you in your deepest darkest corner and then to dire a huge round of disappointment, discouragement and degradation to make you feel how life is meant to be for you. This is what actually life looks like for most of the people, most of the time. However, there are quite a few lighthearted souls who realize at the very early stages of their life that this isn’t true about life, all the time! There’s more to it that needs to be understood, practiced and experienced.

Without trial and error there is no way that you can understand how life is going to treat you and what possible reactions there might be in certain situations. There are different categories of people that you interact and hold on to, in life. It highly depends on your personality as well for how you base your relationships but sometimes things just happen, learning to deal with it is the best possible way to get out of it, earlier and in a healthier position. The people that are looking out to extract the life’s happiness from within you are common and you will interact with such morons the most. It could be your close mates within family, your high school batch mates, your colleagues and even bosses. Who strive to make you believe you’re worthless or at least not fit for this world. You are made to believe that your thoughts, actions, habits and extinct are not something from this world. Therefore, you should be more able to blend in according to how the majority perceives the world.

This made me realize of how true the concept of the ‘Ugly Duckling’, actually is. Just because that beautiful little duckling wasn’t physically associative with its family, it was deemed ‘ugly’. However, the beauty lies in the ending of the story, where the duckling manages to find a place where it discovered who it was around a flock of swans. The beauty of the duckling was within it and was known only by the people who had the eye to see it. Therefore, you might be different, off, or a little weird for the majority of the people in the world, but try and understand that this is who you are; this is what defines you and makes you what you are. There is nothing wrong in being different, in fact beauty of the world lies in the differences that there exists. This post is dedicated to al you beautifully weird people whom the world has labeled to be, ‘terminally weird’. There are many such people spread across the world, and known for their work of genius. These infamous quotes by these weird people will not only make your day but your life, as well.

10. Terri Windling, Welcome To Bordertown

TERRI WINDLING, WELCOME TO BORDERTOWN

“We’re all misfits here,” he says, almost proudly. “That’s why I started this squat, after all. For people like us, who don’t fit in anywhere else, halfies and homos and hopeless romantics, the outcast and outrageous and terminally weird. That’s where art comes from, Jimmy, my friend; from our weirdnesses and our differences, from our manic fixations, our obsessions, our passions; from all those wild and wacky things that make each of us unique.”

This quote explains how the world tries to fixate you inside a label for having traits that doesn’t resemble them or their course of actions. They believe that if you follow a slightly different path of life, you are bound to be crazy, maniac or an alien from outer space. If you don’t make it across their list of acceptablilities, you my friend are, ‘terminally weird’.

9. Rob Siltanen

ROB SILTANEN

“Here’s to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. They’re not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you can’t do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do.”

Rob who was once a part of the advertisement relationship with Apple, defines in this quote how difficult it is to digest the people who are not amongst the normal clan. People tend to disagree a lot, and there is a huge battle of intolerance. But in the end there’s a deep secret buried inside of everyone that it is, in fact, the efforts of the terminally weird that we have been able to achieve so much in this world. Newton, Einstein, Picasso, Martin Luther King Jr., Michael Jackson and many more of such weird people have been the ones who have made this world worth living and dying for.

8. Johnny Depp

JOHNNY DEPP

“I think everybody’s weird. We should all celebrate our individuality and not be embarrassed or ashamed of it.”

Coming from one of the finest actors of Hollywood, this looks so much of a statement that defines the life of a performer, whatever kind it may be. If it weren’t for being different and a misfit w would not be able to see such diversity in cinema. People buy tickets to listen to Opera, watch Broadway shows and are diehard fans of Cinema stars, if it isn’t for the charismatic power of the weirdness in such people as performers; then what is it?

7. C Joybell  C

C. JOYBELL. C

“There are people who are generic. They make generic responses and they expect generic answers. They live inside a box and they think people who don’t fit into their box are weird. But I’ll tell you what, generic people are the weird people. They are like genetically-manipulated plants growing inside a laboratory, like indistinguishable faces, like droids. Like ignorance.”

Considered to be ‘the thing’ for the people of this generation, JoyBell is a wonderful and crazy person by heart. Her definition to introduce herself is involved of mere three words and that are, ‘I am Me’. In our opinion nothing could be more definitive and empowering as these words, because they tend to sum up the originality of human nature. This quote from her tends to sarcastically unmask the normalcy that exists in this world and how powerful it is to be, ‘not one of them’, the generics.

6. Frank  Zappa

FRANK ZAPPA

“I never set out to be weird. It was always other people who called me weird.”

Frank Vincent Zappa, the legend that he was in his era of creating music that was difficult to not only categorize but for some, to understand as well. For a man so powerful that he enabled himself to learn the art of music on his own, went on creating blues, jazz, and mesmerizing rock and roll fusion music for nearly 30 years. For someone who made work of art that was difficult for the world to understand, to be labeled as ‘weird’ was the most common of things. His devotion could be sensed through his words and his music, of course.

5. L Frank Baum

L. FRANK BAUM

“That proves you are unusual,” returned the Scarecrow; “and I am convinced that the only people worthy of consideration in this world are the unusual ones. For the common folks are like the leaves of a tree, and live and die unnoticed.”

Who could have defined the weirdness of the world then by the creator of the wonderful work of imagination, ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Breathing through the characters like ‘The Scarecrow’ and the ‘TinMan’, Frank Baum attempted to show the beauty of ‘weird’. That it is indeed sad to be amongst the normal, who are like the leaves on a tree that are made to grow, and then die remaining unnoticed, but if we look at a scarecrow, the beauty lies in its ability to stand there smiling at the world, as it scares the sh*t away from the birds.

4. Mandy Hale

MANDY HALE

“So you’re a little weird? Work it! A little different? OWN it! Better to be a nerd than one of the herd!”

Why is that it is so difficult for us to be own who we really are? Many of the great minds have had their hard times but they eventually rose above from it. They learnt from their mistakes and their ability to trust the world to think worthy of them. We as ‘weird’ need to learn to appreciate who we are, at first, and then to face the world with chin raised high and shoulders stretched apart.

3. James Patterson, Angel

JAMES PATTERSON, ANGEL

“It was a little weird that they were friends. But then, maybe freaks just tended to find each other.”

One of the finest American Authors, whose work has been transformed into cinema really believes that the ‘law of attraction’ exists. It seems incomprehensible to think of two people who are truly alike to be together and then survive being together for years to come. But where the opposites attract, the likes make their way from the opposite poles, this is how weirdness lives and exists in this world. Try and observe such friendships for a while and you might be lucky enough to understand and learn through your experiences.

2. Jim Gaffigan

JIM GAFFIGAN

“We are all a little weird. And we like to think that there is always someone weirder. I mean, I am sure some of you are looking at me and thinking, “Well, at least I am not as weird as you,” and I am thinking, “Well, at least I am not as weird as the people in the loony bin,” and the people in the loony bin are thinking, “Well, at least I am an orange”.”

Coming out from a comedian, this quote might sound a little too sarcastic, but for us, nothing can be truer than what has been said by Gaffigan. No matter how hard you fall, you tend to believe there are more who are even farther than where you have reached. This is human nature and you can’t really battle against it. So to acknowledge yourself and to understand that it is ‘OK’ to be different from the major chunk of the world will not only help you get through with things easily but maybe you will learn to entertain people like how Gaffigan is doing!

1. A Lee Martinez, Gil’s All Fright Diner

A LEE MARTINEZ

“When you cross over into the weird stuff, there’s no going back. Hector has a theory on it. Calls it the law of ‘Anomalous Phenomena Attraction.’ He explained it to me once. Didn’t really pay attention, but it boils down to ‘weird shit pulls in more weird shit.”

You might have to Google the term in order to get an idea what field the term is actually referring to. But if you are one of the ‘generic’ people of the world, chances are that you may end, giving up too soon. Now all in all, we never really intended to marginalize the generic people of the world, but if being weird is a problem, then why isn’t being normal a crime? Also, once you have dropped in the depth of weirdness, try and pull-in as many people along with you, as you can. Trust us, as you will be helping the world.

Remember

  • OWN your right to be different and don’t be afraid to show it.
  • Acting normal when you can’t is difficult but at times it might be needed to survive. Don’t make it a habit, though.
  • Look up the famous people of the world, discover them and their habits. There are chances that you will get to understand how their weirdness allowed them to understand the psychology of the people who were closer to them.
